Chad or Soy ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application and web service.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: Your Apple or Google user identifier and verified email address are used to authenticate you, maintain your account, and deliver email communications you have enabled.
  • Profile Information: Profile photos and display names you choose to upload.
  • User Content: Daily workout status entries, group memberships, and reactions to other users' entries.
  • Notification Information: Push notification tokens, notification preferences, email-delivery status, and limited delivery metadata needed to send and administer notifications.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Chad or Soy service
  • Sync your data across your devices
  • Enable group features and sharing functionality
  • Send enabled push notifications about group activity and reminders
  • Generate and send enabled weekly email summaries
  • Process unsubscribe requests, delivery failures, and complaints
  • Improve and optimize our service

How We Store Your Information

Your data is stored securely using Amazon Web Services (AWS). All data is stored on secure AWS servers in the United States with encryption in transit and at rest.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data may be shared only in the following circumstances:

  • With Group Members: When you join a group, your profile information and workout entries are visible to other group members.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights.
  • Service Providers: With providers that process authentication, hosting, email delivery, or push delivery on our behalf and only as needed to provide those services.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Sign in with Apple: For authentication (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy)
  • Google Sign-In: For authentication (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
  • Amazon Web Services: For backend infrastructure, data storage, and transactional email delivery (subject to AWS Privacy Policy)
  • Apple Push Notification service: For push-notification delivery to supported Apple devices

We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking technologies.

Notification Choices

Notification delivery follows your saved Chad or Soy preferences and, for push notifications, your device permission. Weekly Summary email is enabled by default when we have a verified delivery address. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Notifications or through the preference and unsubscribe links in each weekly email.

You can turn push categories off in Chad or Soy and can separately revoke push permission in your device settings. We do not send a disabled notification category, and disabling one category does not automatically change another category.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and review your personal data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of Weekly Summary email in Chad or Soy or through an email link
  • Opt out of push notifications in Chad or Soy or via device settings
  • Leave groups and remove shared content at any time

Data Retention

We retain your account data, notification preferences, and limited delivery metadata for as long as your account is active or as otherwise needed to operate and protect the Service. If you delete your account, your associated data will be removed from our servers subject to limited legal, security, and backup retention requirements.

Children's Privacy

Chad or Soy is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
